This week for math we have been learning about coordinates with Mrs Henderson we have been on google maps doing coordinates

From Christchurch Central to Onawe Peninsula it is 38.2 KM & from Christchurch Central to Kaiapoi Pa it is 24.8 KM

Lance wood Tree

This week a few amount of people have done target writing with Mrs Earl we have been happy to work with her. We have been learning about the Lance wood Tree their are about eight Lance wood trees in our school. This is the first time I have ever heard about the Lance wood tree.

Fact 1.

Lance wood is a common plant found throughout lowland and montane forests and shrublands on the North, South and Stewart Islands. The juvenile form is particularly abundant in regenerating bush and along forest edges, especially in lowland areas. 

Fact 2.

did you know the lance wood tree grows up to 15 meters tall and the 

with a trunk 50 centimetres in diameter Medium, Slow


Fact 3. 

It has smooth bark, with rope-like ridges in the juvenile form. Plants remain in their juvenile stage for about 15–20 years.

Fact 4.

Writing - Tuna (eels)

 Over the last couple of weeks we have been researching information about Tuna (eels). We have been learning to write a report using the information we have found.


Our challenges were to include a complex sentence and to use a hyphen followed by a list.


Long fin Eels also known as tuna you can search for them all a round New Zealand. Many people throughout New Zealand try to take eels (tuna) fish. Did you a tuna can live up to 100 years old they are meany tips of eels (tuna). Did you know that the eel (tuna) ways up to 20kg meany people try to catch the eels (tuna). The Tuna (Eels) hunts down their prey fast - sleek, sneaky and fast.
